05. Enduring Powers of Attorney
We are increasingly finding that it is useful, later in life, to have such a document prepared. This will allow you to appoint a person(s) in whom you trust (often a spouse or son/daughter) to assist you with financial/legal matters should you experience health issues at some point in the future. This is a relatively inexpensive means of avoiding difficulty with implementing your decisions in relation to matters such as a house move. Often it is helpful to have a member of your family or a trusted friend help with financial/legal matters if your health declines. This document can prevent the need to make a Court application at some time in the future. If this becomes necessary it will increase the costs and there is not the same flexibility with a Controllership Order as with an Enduring Power of Attorney.
